County clerk seeks Dist. 8 Senate |
03-14-2006
CASCADE -- Valley County Clerk Lee Heinrich recently announced
he will be a Republican candidate for Idaho's Legislative
District 8 Senate Seat in the 2006 election.
“I make this decision out of my commitment to public service
and recognition of the critical needs of our state at this time,” Heinrich said
in a prepared release. “I must say with great humility that I appreciate
the confidence that Valley County has placed in me over the last 16 years, while
I served as Valley County clerk. I am ready and eager to take on the challenges
ahead. I want to assure the people of Legislative District 8 that I will continue
to work tirelessly on their behalf.”
Legislative District 8 encompasses Valley, Idaho, Clearwater
and Lewis counties. It is currently represented by Skip Brandt (R) of Kooskia
who is running for U.S. Representative.
According to Heinrich, the district is mainly composed of rural
forested counties that need community and agency sustainability, healthy productive
forests, appropriate school funding, and importantly that public lands remain
public and accessible.
